One issue that turned my attention to the *.dsm files is that GCC 3.0
comes with a new Info manual, cppinternals.info.  So gcc30b.dsm should
run install-info to add to info/dir a menu entry for this manual.  I'm
guessing that the files you wrote for GCC 2.95.3 didn't do that ;-)
