Akim Demaille, head maintainer of autoconf, announced today
that he intends to release 2.50 in a week or two (and a
DJGPP package will follow soon after).

He also announced that he intends to move away from sh as
autoconf's implementation language, probably to Perl.
Python and Guile have also been raised as candidates.

Note that this change would only affect maintainers, as
users will still be running the configure shell script.

So I'd like to know what your thoughts on this are. Is
Perl acceptable, or would Python or Guile be preferred?
