Fair enough.

And on the other side of the fence, I've been flooded with emails
'purists' explainning that highlight should not be part of grep.
But then again every new features to a Unix utilility are attacks on
the Unix is a toolbox mentality.

The points brought forward by Eli are valid, if the --color survives
the beta it will be to be somewhat more portable.
