This is harmless, at least in the GDB case: the top-level Makefile
sets CFLAGS to "-O2 -g".  Isn't this the same in GCC?

What do you want to remove?  If it's the comment, you obviously can do
that.  But I won't recommend removing the CFLAGS=-O2 line: ``if it
ain't broke, don't fix it''.
