I think there's one minor change that needs to be done.  This snippet:

  if (!cdrom_calls_used)
  {
    if( 7 <= (_get_dos_version(1) >> 8)) /* Is FAT32 supported? */
    {
      /* 217303 - Win9x - Get Extended Free Drive Space:

might do strange things on OS/2's DOS box, because OS/2 reports DOS
version 10.0.  I suggest to avoid running this code if the DOS version
is 10.  That's what other library functions do.
