One of the reasons I can think about is that O_TEXT and O_BINARY are
flags actually honored by DOS itself, as opposed to e.g. O_NOLINK.
And this code seems to copy DOS-level info only. Disclaimer: I don't
know this code. Probably Eli could comment on this, but he seems to 
be offline (Japan again? Sydney? ;-)
