I know he plans to no longer use O_NONBLOCK, but I also think he's right. I 
see no reason why 'fcntl (fd, F_SETFL, 0)' should not succeed, since it's 
changing 'fd' to blocking mode, which is the only mode libc can handle 
anyway.
