I was talking about the second group.  I don't know about Binutils and 
GCC, but for several other packages, I frequently hear from people who 
are used to build everything from sources, even though it is obvious from 
their mail that they don't know much about porting GNU software or the 
configuration/build process.

I don't know to which group would you classify me, but I don't have 
Autoconf and Automake installed, either ;-).
