This problem is probably only seen with Unixy sbrk.  But there are 
lots of other issues with unixy sbrk - locked memory may not stay
locked if the base values change!  The reason this bug is not
seen in other apps which used unixy sbrk (like quake) it that 
they allocated all the memory up front so the base never changed.

This is a real bug - but only a partial fix.
