I suspect that the user doesn't have GCC 2.9x installed (previous 
versions didn't emit .p2align 4,,7 AFAIK).

Thanks for testing.  I think the user has Binutils 2.7.  I asked to 
report what does "ld --version" print, but didn't see any replies on 
comp.os.msdos.djgpp.
