If this is the main motivation, it might be much easier to attack it in 
GDB.  All you need is to put a watchpoint at address zero.  (Currently, 
GDB cannot do that, since when the watchpoint triggers, a zero address 
is taken to mean that this watchpoint was not the one who triggered.  
But it should be a trivial change to make this possible.)
