I don't know, and Laszlo's explanation didn't help me decide whether
this could be a problem.

Can you try an uncompressed version of unzip32 bound with PMODE, and
see if this problem goes away?  We don't really need to compress
unzip32, but we do need it to work reliably in all environments.

If you cannot reproduce the problems I reported, please send me the
uncompressed binary, and I will try it on my machine.
