All batch files are executed with a call to spawnve, so Bash has no 
say in how a .bat file is executed. Perhaps if you could go in to 
more detail?

The backslash is an escape character in Bash, so I can't do 
anything about this. You will note the same limitation in Bash 
1.147.

Thanks. The fix was already on the source hard drive and in the 
generated binary, but somehow didn't make into the source 
archive.
