Of course Info has changed, and changed a lot!

If the previous version cleared the screen even though it worked in
the default 80x25 dimensions, it was a bug in the old version.

Yep, Emacs does that.  However, doing so is a lot of pain (since the
screen dimensions change, possibly to some weird mode), and since the 
original Unix code doesn't do it, I didn't think it's worth the hassle.
