Okay, I found and retrieved the code from the November DDJ (the full URL
is ftp://ftp.mv.com/pub/ddj, BTW). The only problem is that it is in
Intel asm format, not AT&T, and my knowledge of assembly is pretty
pathetic for attempting to convert it. If anybody would like to help,
I'd be very grateful. :)

The URL for the CPU detection code is:
ftp://ftp.mv.com/pub/ddj/1996/1996.11/ud1196.zip
