Does anyone know if the recent bfd changes in binutils might have
caused this problem?

Hi DJ,

I got this message from Chris Young on the POV-Ray team about the
2.01 release of DJGPP. Is this release now public, and if so what
changes were made to the linker in that version? It seems we have a
conflict with the object modules converted with our OBJ->O converter
program.

Where would I download the 2.01 files from? Are the public on
ftp.cdrom.com yet?

It seems they've fixed DJGPP 2.0 but broke pmode.a in the process. Could you
investigate?

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your reply to my area-lights query. This got me
thinking about how I could start experimenting.
The upshot of this is that I went back to DJGPP2.0 and had another
look. The latest version, v2.01, seems to link OK, without running out of
memory for the symbol table which is the problem I had had.
Unfortunately I now get undefined references, all starting with
'PM_'. Using nm to look at the symbol table in pmode.a there were three
object files reported as 'file format not recognized': _pmlite.o,
_pmpro.o, _vflat.o.
Do you know if these files are correct? They are, I understand,
the files converted from .asm through .obj.

	Here's hoping there's an easy answer ...
					Mike Andrews.

P.S. Reading the c.g.r.r. newsgroup it seems that most of us end users are
greedy, ungrateful little individuals. Or at least the more vocal ones
seem to be. Believe it or not, there are some of us that really appreciate
the time and effort that goes into a project the magnitude of PoV-Ray. And
having used the program in all it's incarnations from DKBTrace onward the
progress is remarkable. Roll on PoV-Ray 4 :-)
