Some years ago (consult the email archives) I proposed a similar
change to djtar, to replace the '->' (or whatever) string with a
single tab character, so that the fnchange output from djtar could
also be used (unmodified) as an input list of filename conversions.
DJ gave the proposed change a green light, but another djgpp worker
objected, so I just let the matter drop.
