I am wondering why it is necessary to go to all this trouble. Doesn't the directory entry for any FAT system file include a pointer to the first cluster on that drive, and isn't this unique and independant of naming tricks? The addition of 5 bits for drive identification should make it unique over the file system. Am I missing something? -- Chuck F (cbfalconer AT yahoo DOT com) (cbfalconer AT worldnet DOT att DOT net) Available for consulting/temporary embedded and systems. <http://cbfalconer.home.att.net> USE worldnet address!
