I actually built the 2.03 refresh with GCC 2.8.1 (just like the original
version) - with the "fixed" binutils assembler.

I've considered making a "refreshed" 2.8.1 or 2.7.2 available, since
the code generated is significantly smaller than the 2.9 or 3.x versions.
Since spare time <= 0, don't hold your breath.

I have gcc 2.2.2 built with 1.08 - it's small enough to be able to run
from a single floppy :-)

And I'm sure I have 2.6.3 archived off someplace.
