They are all useful under certain circumstances, and producing them
requires several large packages.

There's a version of Acrobat reader for MS-DOS (though I've never used
it).

PDF prints better, and generally looks better (I'm using the PDF output
as a means of previewing the printed version of the manual).

The interesting question is: how many people have a PS printer, period ;-)
PS printers are very expensive, but if you're a PS freak, you'll buy one
even for DOS (I have ;-).

DVI is required to reproduce any of the other formats (PDF, PS) in case
you want to change something in how the printed copy looks (like change
the paper format), and for additional formats such as LJ4 or to print
only specific pages.
