Emacs isn't so bad. If you get a copy of a Emacs reference card, then that'll
tell you all you need to do basic editing with Emacs.
I used to use vim for everything, but when I started my current job most
people used Emacs, so I made the switch and haven't looked back since. The
reference card taught me all I needed to know.
I used the reference card from the back of an O'Reilly "Learning Emacs" book
(which I've hardly read). Maybe there's a free one at http://www.refcards.com/
or http://www.refcards.org/ .
I use Eli's scripts for sending e-mail from Emacs and they are pretty easy to
set up. I'm sure he can send you instructions for feedmail+blat, but if he
can't, then I can try to dig them up.
