Even telling that lack of support for this feature will kill languages such as Arabic on some platforms didn't convince. All I was asking for was to provide as part of gettext a version of printf from glibc, for those platforms that don't support %5$s, like they already do with several other functions (memcpy, strcasecmp, mktime, etc.). Request denied on the pretense that this will bloat the package...
