Seems we have a serious trouble with using GCC-3.X with
DWARF-2 debug info.I tested gcc-3.0.3 release and gcc-3.1 20020124 
and got the same problem

Specifying DWARF-2 debug info (eg. -ggdb3) breaks
C++ exceptions completelly: No exceptions are catched at all 
even in a simple examples.

Didn't have time to look into that in more details yet.
