If you have access to a Windows 2000 or XP or just want to know what is
happening with the DJGPP compiler and Windows 2000/XP then please read the
rest of this email.

The unofficial DJGPP Windows 2000 site url is
http://clio.rice.edu/djgpp/win2k/main.htm (a full status report is available
online and is updated on a ad-hoc basis.)

Since the last update of the files at unofficial DJGPP Windows 2000 site the
following are the main changes that are included in the next update:
1) Long path fixes (generic DJGPP issue)
2) NTVDM nesting simplification
3) mntent fixes for Win2K/XP

NOTE: During the next 24 hours the majority of the binary files (all files
except Perl and Bash 2.05) that are available from the unofficial DJGPP
Windows 2000 site will be updated using the LIBC from approx 3-Oct-2001. If
you downloaded the make binary file previously and it doesn't work correctly
please download the updated version now available.

If you are not aware of what is available at the the unofficial DJGPP
Windows 2000 site please read then following blurb:

The site contains allot of info which is designed to help developers get the
DJGPP compiler and associated packages working on Windows 2000 and XP as
quickly as possible so that they can help the out. The site also contains a
number of work in progress binary files for use on Windows 2000 and XP (and
Win 9x for crazy developers who want to test for backward compatibility
issues) .

The info and files at the site should allow DJGPP developers and users to
get the DJGPP compiler working under Windows 2000 and XP very quickly, it
still requires you to download the packages from Simtel. The site is
accessible from DJ's site by clicking on the "Current DJGPP status vs
Windows 2000 (unofficial)" link under the Introduction section.

Regards,
Andrew
