Shouldn't it be more correct to use script from from the source tree:
DJGPP_DJL := $(shell pwd)/$(TOP)/../../lib/djgpp.djl
Seems that this works (I tested only 'make -C debug') after moving
away $DJDIR/lib/djgpp.djl
