Please forgive me my ignorance, but the subject line says:
"getconf v2".
Should the executable be named getconf of getopt?
If the first, then the following lines are incorrect.

>  fprintf(stderr, "Usage: getopt [-h] [sysvar] [pathvar path]\n");

>  fprintf(stderr, "Usage: getopt sysvar\n");
