Did you take this message text from some Unix box?

On one system where I tried this, the text for ELOOP is this:

   Too many symbolic links in path name traversal

Another system says this:

   Too many symbolic links encountered

I think we tried to mimic Unix systems in these error messages.  So I
suggest this:

   "Too many symbolic links encountered (ELOOP)"
