Two major changes are still not in:

1. The new FSEXT stuff.  I'd like to see a diff against 971009 with
the documentation in txh files, and without the pread/pwrite stuff
(stick with standard functions, please).

2. The Makefile changes.  I'd like to take a shot at a set of
Makefiles that don't require bash etc on dos first.

I haven't gone over the web-bugs yet.  This alpha has mostly minor
fixes, as detailed in the knowledge base.
