Just FYI, the user tried to run under SoftICE and it indeed seems that 
the place where it seemed to crash under edebug32 is incorrect; edebug 
was probably confused by setting SS.  I've asked the user to get the 
sources and recompile with some debugging print-outs so we could know 
exactly where does it crash.  Alternatively, using a better debugger 
might supply the correct info.
