It seems that the new GAS shipped with the latest alpha release is more picky
than its previous versions. I think GAS is now looking at the argument size
more carefully. I was compiling libc from snapshot 960919 and got at several
spots error messages about unrecognized i386 operand combinations. It was in
majority of cases the following:
movl %%something, %%ax
There were also several spots in libm that had the same problem with operands
size.
