I remember a discussion about this in Geoff Chappell's book "DOS Internals."
I have it at home, and I'll check to see what sort of conclusion he came up
with (unless someone beats me to the punch). I think the answer is that there
is a simple solution for any system that will run Windows 3.x reliably, and
that, along with the Win95 function, should address the vast majority of
cache environments.
