I don't agree...there are enough "unix-like utilities" floating around. fileutils, sh-utils, and textutils compile on djgpp...I've been using them for years...what the maintainers have to do is figure out what is text and what is binary, and do #ifndef O_BINARY #define O_BINARY 0 #endif when they open...
