Subject: ANNOUNCE: DJGPP port of DviPDFm 0.9.4 uploaded
Reply-To: djgpp AT delorie DOT com

This is to announce that the DJGPP port of version 0.9.4 of the
DviPDFm package is available from SimTel.NET mirrors worldwide:

 ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/gnu/djgpp/v2apps/tex/dpdf094b.zip
 ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/gnu/djgpp/v2apps/tex/dpdf094s.zip

DviPDFm is a DVI driver which produces PDF output. You can use it to
produce TeX and Texinfo documents in PDF format, by first running TeX
(or the texi2dvi script) to generate the DVI file, then running
dvipdfm on the result. One situation where you might want that is to
allow you to view the printed version of a Texinfo document without
wasting paper to print it. (The alternative solution, to use the
DviVGA program, is very primitive, when compared to availabe PDF
viewers.)

The binary package includes all the Type 1 and AFM fonts required to
run DviPDFm, at least for fonts used by Texinfo documents. I
downloaded the fonts from CTAN, so if you find any fonts missing, you
could look for them on CTAN.

Since this package installs fonts into the share/texmf tree, you will
want to run `mktexlsr' after unzipping dpdf094b.zip.

This port is of a relatively old release of DviPDFm. It is quite
possible that you can find a much better version on the net. However,
I don't have time to port a newer version, and this version is working
fine for me for more than a year, at least as far as Texinfo documents
are concerned. So I decided to let others use this port.

Please direct any further discussions about this port to
comp.os.msdos.djgpp news group (or write to its e-mail gateway
djgpp AT delorie DOT com).
