With *very* brief looking at it, the library isn't _directly_ compatible
with quake's sound interface. However it is possible to incorporate
bits from it and/or modify it to fit the needs if its license is clarified.
As for bits of sound hardware knowledge, plenty is actually around
such as the allegro library (up to allegro-4.2.3.1), or ALSA...
