__tb is already allocated, it's a static buffer. Just use it. The only time you need to allocate your own buffer is if __tb is not big enough for what you need (and even then, you can use stubedit to increase it) or if you need multiple buffers. You should not ever *change* the transfer buffer, it's set up for you by djgpp.
