Based on DJ's comment above I found this: http://www.delorie.com/djgpp/v2faq/faq18_13.html and changed my code to make sure the DMA was getting a correct address. Now it works like a charm! I still can't get dmamix-d.zip to work. It doesn't crackle, but it only plays snippets in the middle of the wavs. I think the other problems I was encountering with crackling wavs all have to do with code that uses the Allegro library. I still don't understand what people are doing differently to get this these things to work. Unless someone has another suggestion, I'm going to run with the working code that i have for now...
