Thanks for your hint, but I guess clock() is working fine. The reason for some of my programs behaving now differently seems to be a new optimisation scheme in gcc, which is more likely to cause statements to be executed out of sequence than in previous releases. Otherwise gcc 4.10 looks ok to me. I just have to keep in mind to expect the unexpected whenever my programs depend on sequential execution of statements. Besides that I'd like to thank you and everyone else involved in the DJGPP project to keep it up to date after all these years!
