For what it's worth: I'm not sure what you mean with "unzip32.exe to negotiate everything", but I take that to mean overwrite everything. If that is so, then I recommend to uninstall the older packages first (according to some FAQ, rm -f @manifest/<something> IIRC). Or just delete the whole DJGPP tree and install the lot again.
