Check this out; last time I attempted to "manually replace"
since nothing else was working:
autoconf: 7.76kb 12-19-05 1:34:36am
wanted to be replaced by
autoconf: 7.75kb 12-25-05 9:37:34pm
How about that! And these should have been the same
autoconf-2.59.zip package!
Installing manually is little different that using unzip32.exe,
which merely merges files into existing directories, and creates
new directories as needed.
I have also seen config.site be backed up and replaced.
I notice that using the unzip32.exe method of installation,
and using the beta\v2gnu releases of the packages this time,
djgpp.env is 3764 bytes, and the same file in my original
installation is 3698.
So there are differences based on different packages;
but there is not any description what, if in fact any,
work done by unzip32.zip actually modifies/appends/updates
djgpp.env, config.site, etc., files.
I do not think that it does; or does it?
Either way, a proper installation by allowing unzip32.exe to
negotiate everything, still results in Autoconf not working for
me.
