As for -lemu, I think just linking with the emulator will not cause the emulation to be used on a machine that has an FP hardware (which all of them do nowdays). You need to explicitly force emulation by calling the function __dpmi_set_coprocessor_emulation (it is documented in the library reference manual). Can you try adding that call, link with -lemu, and see if the problem goes away? > That's as close as I can get. What, no other Windows machine anywhere where you can carry a floppy?
