There's no particular reason to assume that it shouldn't just work as it is --- or do you have experience otherwise? Following this route of thought, you'ld have to avoid MS-DOS itself, or any other hardware drivers (SCSI, CDROM, whatever), on the same grounds, making it all but impossible to run DJGPP programs.
