If you are dealing with C++ the language standard changed several years ago, and you are using an old installation, possibly from the CDRom in the book. You would be well advised to get an uptodate installation starting from <http://www.delorie.com>. Remove the ".h" from the #include statements as a first step. The Conversion.o probably means you haven't compiled a module named Conversion (watch out for capitalization, C and C++ are case sensitive languages).
