I didn't have a look at the code, but you may find that having a look at the graphics libraries in the V2TK directory may help and will probably allow you to get up and runnign allot faster with allot more features in a shorter time period. If you want to support the widest resoultions and color depths and also cross platfrom have a look at Allegro, http://alleg.sourceforge.net/
