Carol,
I just bought a 40 Gbyte hard drive and I could not get the full
use of it, only 8.3 Gbytes. I
went to Maxtor and they would sell me a board for the drive for $50.00 +
shipping. My system
is a 300Mhz Pentium II with Win 98-se2. I went to the motherboard mfr
and downloaded a
updated BIOS and that worked. I am not saying this will work for you but
its free and worth
a try. Maxtor kept saying in their literature that the BIOS may be the
problem. It might be worth
a try in your case.
