please read my message again.
you need to add to the value of the variable, not replace it.
if you choose to edit the system level PATH variable, the value of your
PATH variable should be:
c:\djgpp\bin;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32
\wbem

for illustration, here are the contents of my PATH:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\GTK\1.3\lib;C:\djgpp\bin;C:\Perl\bin;C:
\php;C:\Python;C:\jdk\bin;C:\Tcl\bin;C:\gs\gs7.04\bin;C:\gs\gs7.04\lib;C:
\Vim\vim61;C:\tex\bin\win32;C:\util;C:\util\im;C:\jakarta\ant\bin;C:
\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\cygwin\bin;C:
\cygwin\sbin;C:\cygwin\usr\bin;C:\cygwin\usr\sbin;C:\cygwin\usr\local
\bin;C:\cygwin\usr\local\sbin;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adaptec
Shared\System
as you can see, it is possible for PATH to contain multiple directories.
