Eric, -lpdcurses means that the library should be libpdcurses.a , but you have libcurses.a so you need to use -lcurses . Give this a try. BTW the PDCurses at Simtel are very old and there are latter versions at http://pdcurses.sourceforge.net/index.html Andrew
