This is an announcement of DJGPP port of GNU Debugger GDB-5.2.1.
GDB is a source-level debugger for C, C++, Pascal and many other
languages.
It is available from SimTel.NET mirrors:
Binary archive (most users need only this file, includes gdb.exe, bfdsymify.exe, etc):
http://www.simtel.net/gnudlpage.php?product=/gnu/djgpp/v2gnu/gdb521b.zip&name=gdb521b.zip
Source archive:
http://www.simtel.net/gnudlpage.php?product=/gnu/djgpp/v2gnu/gdb521s.zip&name=gdb521s.zip
GDB documentation in Postscript, DVI, PDF and HTML formats:
http://www.simtel.net/gnudlpage.php?product=/gnu/djgpp/v2gnu/gdb521d.zip&name=gdb521d.zip
I didn't create an archive with libbfd.a and other related libraries as it
was recently done with release of DJGPP port of binutils-2.13 (see bnu213a.zip)
New features that are noteworthy for DJGPP users:
- Much better support of DWARF2 debugging info. Even more DWARF2 debugging
info generated by gcc-3.1 and above is incompatible with GDB versions
before 5.2. Now DWARF2 debugging info is the default with port of GCC-3.2,
so it's highly recommeded to upgrade also to GDB-5.2.1.
- Similary as in gdb511b.zip bfdsymify.exe is included. One should use
bfdsymify instead of symify with stabs and DWARF2 debugging info.
You can find additional information:
- In files included in directory gnu/gdb-5.2_1 in archive gdb521b.zip
- GDB home page http://sources.redhat.com/gdb/
Please direct any further discussions about this port to
comp.os.msdos.djgpp news group (or write to its e-mail gateway
djgpp AT delorie DOT com).
