Er, don't you mean:
rm -f -v @manifest/gpp2953b.mft
It appears that you won't get an error if you use '@' on a non-existent file.
E.g.:
bash-2.04$ ls -l foo
c:/djgpp/bin/ls: foo: No such file or directory (ENOENT)
bash-2.04$ rm -fv @foo
