It's best to issue real-mode interrupts via the library function __dpmi_int, not directly with the INT nn instruction. The __dpmi_int method is much more reliable on some of the OSes supported by DJGPP. So I suggest doing what you want in C, not in assembly. Sections 18.1 to 18.5 of the DJGPP FAQ list have the details.
