> "info gcc" should eventually lead you where you want to go. gcc > is inherently command line driven, as is gnu make, etc. I suspect > "info make rules automatic" might be more productive. Good tip. The GCC section was more appropriate for my needs, but it was somewhat abstract. I *might* require a command line soltion that can be executed from GCC to create a single dependency file for an entire directory of files. There were no examples how to do this. Only a couple of obscure comments. Thanks anyway. Ben
